Web/Keypad Controlled Home Security System - 433Mhz Sensors

Thu Nov 21, 2013 9:18 am

I wanted to share this open source project I just completed. It is basically a home security system that works with 433Mhz wireless sensors to detect a break in. It can be controlled via a 4x3 membrane keypad or a web interface. It currently sends out an email once an alarm is triggered. I plan on expanding this as part of phase 2.

Thoughts and suggestions for improvement are welcome!

And what will stop an intruder who will first cut off electricity to your house?

Or you could just use a battery backup connected to your Pi 5V pin input.

Great attempt! It is indeed one of the smartest ways to do a DIY alarm. Though it will have a problem when electricity gets cut, it can still save a lot of money. The video surveillance system installed at my home works on internet connection and the company provides their own monitoring service which makes it all convenient for me.

Thanks.juliostager. One of main reasons I attempted this, is that I feel that the home security companies charge an outrageous monthly fee for something like this.

An update since my original blog - I added support for multiple webcams that can trigger the alarm on motion detect.

I enabled phase 2 of the project which allows web based control of outlet switches. You can find it here:

This is a great project. I am trying to follow along. Do you have a wiring diagram for the hardware or more pictures?

Thanks
