RFID issues.

Mon Oct 07, 2013 11:08 pm

I've got a RFID reader from Adafruit.

When I poll a card I have it comes up with most things fine,
ISO/IEC 14443A (106 kbps) target:
ATQA (SENS_RES): xx xx
UID (NFCID1): xx xx xx xx
SAK (SEL_RES): xx

However when I use mfoc to try and brute force the keys it shoots up an error saying only mifare classic supported, I'm pretty sure the one I have is mifare classic.

Not to mention that currently, libnfc only works in debug mode.

If you had posted ATQA and SAK values I could have told you what you have.

ATQA (SENS_RES): 0f 01
SAK (SEL_RES): 01

Hopefully that's of some help.

Its not Mifare Classic but according to NXP documents it is a chiptype called "TNP3xxx". It might be compatible with Mifare Classic on some levels but it doesn't identify itself as such. You might try to rewrite mfoc slightly so that it tries to use it as a Mifare Classic anyway.

Only reference I can find is that they might be used in "Skylander" figures.

Hmm, I will look into it, I'm pretty new to messing with RFID and I just don't understand why the reader hits roadblocks with some cards and not others, I was starting to wonder if there was a problem with my versions of mfcuk/libnfc.

Mind me asking where you got the nxp docs?

Much appreciated, It will probably be all nonsense to me, but it's a starting point.

This is an interesting post. I'm possibly going to be working on a small rfid project in the coming months, but not with MiFare cards. I can get my hands on the rfid unit for brief periods and might get the loan of one for a few weeks if I'm lucky.

I need to learn as much about rfid as I can at the moment.

I don't know if I'll be using a Pi, or something else for this "work", I'll see how it goes.
