wifi hotspot question (I think)

Thu May 09, 2013 9:47 am

I have a number of Raspberry PIs which I set up to connect via wifi to my router by editing the /etc/network/interfaces file and adding the password for my router.

What I wanted was a way of connecting to the Pi without having to configure it with the pwssword for my router. ie make the pi act as a router with a standard password so that my laptop can connect directly or via the router? is this the meaning of a wifi hotspot? i don't want the pi to connect to the internet, just to be able to wifi to it from another machine without configuring it.

Thanks
R
