setting up a fixed wireless address

Sat Apr 13, 2013 9:12 am

in /etc/network/interfaces

I have...

;;;;;;;;
auto lo
iface lo inet loopback

iface eth0 inet static
address 192.168.0.11
netmask 255.255.255.0
gateway 192.168.0.1
nameserver 192.168.0.1

#auto wlan0
#iface wlan0 inet dhcp
#wireless-essid NETGEAR
#wireless-mode managed
#wireless-key 4347D06350

;;;;;;;;;;;

which gives me a fixed ethernet address. the hashed out code gives me a dynamic wlan0 address.

How would I change to give me a fixed wlan0 address?

Thanks

Code: Select all

auto wlan0
iface wlan0 inet static
address 192.168.0.15
netmask 255.255.255.0
gateway 192.168.0.1
nameserver 192.168.0.1
Change address to whatever IP you want
eesid and what not is defined in

Code: Select all

/etc/wpa_supplicant.conf

Or run

Code: Select all

wpa_gui
from console/menu which is the easiest way if unsure.
