Re: Raspberry pi and Parallax Propellor

thanks for the link. I don't think it will be too much of a problem though. After all I am only using the propellor to be an interface between the motors and bump sensors and the PI. I will simply set Pi and the propellor as the slave

errr.. :shock: I think you mean I will set the PI as master and the Propeller as slave. (or vice versa). :roll:

For an example on how to use serial communications on the Raspberry Pi you can review this thread:

http://www.raspberry-projects.com/pi/pr ... t#more-482

/dev/ttyAMA0

will refer to the built-in console serial port available on the GPIO pins. If you have a Propeller board plugged into the Raspberry Pi (either directly or through a HUB) then it should show up as a tty port probably like

/dev/ttyUSB0

If you replace the /dev/ttyAMA0 with the port of your Propeller board then you should be able to talk to it that way.

If you're not already sorted, then :

should help - from C/C++, anyway

Well I am back. It turns out that the book on python I requested to be brought in from Quincy at the library was checked out. Is there any particularly good websites or youtube tutorials on the subject(PS I am a complete beginner with Python)

Okay one more question, From the pictures of the pi on the net the power jack looks like a usb port. Is there any usb power supplies compatible out there and where can I get one?

well I am back. made some progress with the propellor. Decided to use python instead of c and save me some headaches. I still have some problems though and some questions. First there seems to be a bug in my code
import usb
bus=usb.busses()
device=bus[0].devices[0]
_devhandle=device.open()
_devhandle.setConfiguration(1)#this line is the culprit
_devhandle.claimInterface(0)
_bulkout=1
_bulkin=0x82
DeviceID=_devhandle.controlMsg(0xa1,0,8,100)
while x<12:
_devhandle.bulkWrite(_bulkout,32,100)
_devhandle.bulkRead(_bulkin,8,100)
x=x+1
_devhandle.releaseInterface(sekf._intf)

del self._devhandle
I have already checked the configuration of the pi with another program and it said it was one. Second I am planning to start experimenting with a web cam hooked up to the pi very soon, I need to know if I need a driver for my lifecam hd 3000 and where in apptitude I can find it. I also need software to view what the life cam sees so I know it working
