I'm interested in using a pi to monitor my 42 breaker, resident breaker panel. I know the pi doesn't have an ADC, but I'm trying to figure out what my best option to get 42 ADC channels back to the pi for data monitoring and reporting. This doesn't need to be utility grade monitoring, I just want a good idea of where my power is going. I have a board with 42 CTs on it with a header.
I've been looking at using Arduinos, connected through USB, as ADCs. It looks like the Atmega 32U4 has 12 ADC inputs. Ideally I'd like to use the Arduino Micro for this, but I'm having a hard time locating these at a good price (all my searches are turning up the pro micro, that has less ADC pins connected?). I did find a source of the Arduino Leonardos for about $4.50 ea, which is looking like my best option at this point.
Anyone else know of a cheap, easy way to get 42 ADC channels back to a PI? TIA
