Quick clarification question. You mentioned you would need to have all 16 relays on at the same time. Is this always the case (all on or all off)? Or are their times when you would need to individually control some of them? If it is all on or all off, then you can simplify the entire design by driving one small relay whose contacts can conduct the current of the 16 coils of the power relays. When that relay is closed, then all 16 power relays get activated.

I need individual control as well. On occasion if they lock up, I can remotely power cycle the unit in question.
