Running a pi 3, DC Motor Hat, and Google Voice Hat off of batteries

Mon Sep 03, 2018 8:39 am

I am stacking a Google voice hat on top of a E336755 Adafruit DC motor hat on top of a raspberry pi 3. The Google Voice hat has an option to run batteries to it if you cut a solder joint. The DC motor hat also has a terminal for batteries. Do I need to run power to both? One? Which one?

Are 4 AA batteries enough to run 2 1.2A dc motors, 2 servos, 1 metal gear servo, a pi 3, google voice hat, and dc motor hat?

Thanks!!

Looking at your proposed build some point that jump out at me.

1. You can't stack to hats if they are true hats with an EPROM on.

2. 4 x AA batteries are not going to run 2 x motors drawing 1.2A for very long especially if you are running servos as well.

3. You have made no provision for supping 5v to your pi, ( 4 x AA = 6v ) which should have its own power source separate from the motors power source.
