Line Follower Sensor

Mon Sep 04, 2017 11:50 am

Hi guys.

Thank you for taking your time to read this post. Ive been looking to buy a line following sensor, and Ive come across these:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/IR-Sensor-TCRT5 ... SwcLxYIMZ2 - Not sure it supports 3.3V

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Pololu-QTR-8RC- ... Swi-NZlcyX

http://www.ebay.com/itm/5-way-Five-Chan ... 0009.m1982

Which one would you recommend? Or do you have others?

Thank you

I did jave a look at the links and they all seem to very similar to each other. Basically they all r switches that will be opened or closed by wheater the groudn under then is black or white. All 3 seem to use the same components.

None of them seem to have anything to adjust the sensitivity. The third one might, but I read the description as saying only the forward (collision detection) sensor is variable. This means the only way to adjust the sensor is by varying the height, so you have to allow for a mechanical means of doing this.

I bought some of these recently.

They work on 3.3v and have adjustable sensitivity. Mine were supplied with the led/photodiode mounted on the same side as the other components and pointing off the end, not to the underside as shown. They are discrete devices so you can bend the leads a bit.

I don't recommend them particularly but they are cheap and seem to work OK.
