Will this Work with Raspberry Pi 3 and LIRC??

Wed Nov 09, 2016 12:00 am

Hi everyone,

I'm wanting to control my air conditioner with my Raspberry Pi 3. I'm wondering if this module below would work to learn the remote and transmit the signal with LIRC?

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/5V-IR-Infrar ... SwxN5WVBMG

I'm totally new to this so sorry if this is dumb question!

Thanks,

JT.

The communication is stated as TTL level, which means 5V. Use a logic voltage shifter between it and the RPi, or else you will fry the GPIO on the RPi.
Most of these cheap Chinese ebay items do not come with instructions, so unless you can locate a datasheet for the chip (no markings are visible on the picture, but that may be due to unfavorable lighting) you could be left with an interested reverse engineering challenge.
