I am trying to make my home "smart" and was hoping for some beginner's advice.
My current plan is to have a central Raspberry Pi controlling everything via my Smartphone.
A few ideas for things I would like to incorporate:
* Notifications when doors and windows are opened.
* Turning lights on automatically when I am not at home.
* Automatic blind openers.
I am thinking of having an Arduino in each room and have this communicate with the Pi via wireless.
My main question at the moment is what to install on the Pi to get things going.
From what I have read, the best way is to stick Raspbian on it and then install openHAB - what do you guys think?
