Simple Rpi Robot Tutorial?

Wed Dec 02, 2015 1:18 am

Hello, can somebody point me to a tutorial on how to program a simple raspberry pi robot using python. I am relatively new to programming, so I have a very acute knowledge of where to start. Thank you.

But seriously, there are heaps of resources, and your question is quite vague. Could you please expand on what kind of robot you want?

The GoPiGo is a complete kit to build your own robot car. GoPiGo works at the level you’re at — whether you are a parent looking for a smart, fun weekend project to do with your kid, a teacher looking for a way to increase engagement in your science course, or a grad student in need of a platform for your robotics research that requires mobility.

There are a lot of different tutorials on how to build, how to program the robot! Lot's of videos too:

I was just hoping for a project I could build from scratch. I'm proficient in electronics, and I just want to get my foot in the door with programming.

August issue of the MagPi. Also like the robot buttler tutorial in the raspberrypi.org resources. Those both are simple and expandable examples. No wiimote? Just rewrite it for a manual program loop...

have fun! And don't worry about buying someone's expensive robot kit. Those are great gifts, but they normally all have the same peices. You can even find decently made pieces of a more generic nature on amazon or ebay. They all work. Unless it's built as a hat or shield, you can get a motor controller speced as arduino or pi based motor driver. Just buy the parts that support the storefront/company/manufacturer you like. I think adafruit has some cool stuff, and so does sparkfun.
