Raspberry and HT12E

I am currently building a custom automation system with distributed hifi a/v, advanced security, irrigation, smart home tech with lighting and thermo, the works. It will support IR, RF, IP, rs232, 485, Zwave and Zigbee Some of it is by hacking other equipment and some is building new stuff for it to make up for short comings. A handheld remote and a touchscreen (inwall and valet) will be offered and a lot of other cool bells and whistles will be implemented and will ultimately replace pretty much all light switches, thermos and security keypads with touchscreens and nice GUI. One of my components (fireplace) is a radio signal using the HT12E IC in the remote. How can I find the encryption on the HT12D on the receiver easily without having destroy the remote or dismantle the receiving end? Any help is great I don't have much experience with RF transmission and pairing.
