UR10 and RPi

Wed Jan 23, 2019 7:12 pm

Was wondering if you can connect a UR10 and a Raspberry Pi together? Is that even possible? And if so how?

Universal Robot, basically a robotic arm.

Basically the project is robotic welding, and I just want to see if RPi can interact with the UR10.

I attached a picture below.

As this is an Industrial robot arm I would doubt using a pi to control it has even been envisaged,
there are a number of communication protocols available according to their web site.

If you are investing in such a product I would expect you to be talking to the supplier about industrial control systems.

Hello,
Yes you can connect an UR collaborative robot to a raspberry pi. I have done connecting two networked UR3 and a raspberry pi using ethernet. That is a clever choice especially if you plan to use peripherials like webcams.

I implemented such a setup in the teaining lab we have for last year engineering students. That solution proven to be so good that it was also implemented in another lab that has 2 ur 10 robots.

As a footnote to previous reply : answering a question when you do not know is nice, remaining silent is even nicer.

Would you mind describing how did you manage that? 'm trying for few months to connect ur10(server) with rpi (client).

ROS packages for UR are not avaliable on rpi, modbus responses are empty (as no slave), and ethernet was my last idea.

Would be thankfull for some tips that really worked.

Hello, are there any news regarding this topic?
I want to control a camera with my UR5 via RasPi for test purposes

Hello,
We are working on the same thing, but unable to connect the UR3 to RasPi. Could you please guide us on the same!
