combine wifi +eth0

Fri May 30, 2014 4:47 pm

i am running raspbian in my raspberry and i have added a wifi usb dongle.
i would like to combine eth0 and wifi for faster torrent downloading.
the wifi is on network 192.168.1.0/24 gw is 192.168.1.1
the eth0 is on network 192.168.43.0/24 gw is 192.168.43.254

the raspberry is on IP .20 on both networks. how do i combine both for faster download?

sometimes though i would like to preserve the traffic from wifi to 20Mbps and to 10 Mbps from eth0. how do i do that?

Before you struggle with this, have you done a 'sanity check' to see if it will give you any real advantage?

Do the wifi and wired connections both end up at the same router? What is the likely maximum throughput of the connection between that router and the rest of the internet? Does it exceed what you might get by saturating the wifi and wired connections?

On the RPi both the usb port and the ethernet port are handled by the same usb2.0 controller. Again, does the throughput of that controller exceed what you might get by saturating the wifi and wired connections?

However, learning about 'bonding' multiple network connections is an interesting exercise.

there are 2 different routers with different network access.
how do you bond them?
