Send Information From SPI through Ethernet

Hi,

I was wondering if it is possible to transfer data received by the SPI through the ethernet on to a PC. I have the SPI working and receiving data Ok and the ethernet is connected by a bridged network to a Windows PC. However, I was looking for information on where to start to transfer the data received by the SPI to a client app on the PC.

Thanks for any help or direction

My suggestion is that you need to focus on understanding the data transfer mechanism used by the client app on the PC.

I was planning on just developing a relatively simple application using C++. This question was more garnered towards seeing if this was possible. I have initially looked into sockets and how they work as a means of transferring data across.

I'm sure that's a possible solution. Or you might be able to remotely run a script via ssh and have the data transferred onto the PC that way. (ssh has more uses than simply performing a remote logon to a system.)

Well I have SSH up and running now so I think what I could do is have my python script run at start-up on the Pi, as it reads in data from the SPI I could devise a program that listens to what is incoming on port 22 and outputs on to the PC screen. I am fairly new to Linux systems so don't know how to fully implement this but thanks for the point in the right direction.
