3G Modem Auto-Reconnect

Hey guys, I have been using a 3G modem wth my Pi through Wvdial. Recently I noticed sometimes when the modem looses signal an drops out, Wvdial recieves "busy or not responding" when ran to try and reconnect. I power the modem speretly not from the USB, I was curious if there is a nice direct way to reset the modem then attemp redial to try and get an automated watchdog that would see PPP drop and then reset USB devices then redial. Thanks for any help!

I was thinking would it be possible to simply drop the USB Host driver then re enable. That would in effect reset the USB, anyone know if this is in the Kernel or possible to directly reload?

i m having same problem of dropping connection in my 3G modem.... i m using Huewai Dongle with Sakis3G.... Any idea why Dongles are getting disconnecting often... I hope it not the signal strength... Must be in the driver level or Rasberry...

I am thinking its more signal loss actually. I have 3 demo devices operating and one has had a steady connection for over a week now while the other 2 will loose connection within 24hrs and never come back until a restart of the Pi. I use Wvdial with auto reconnect enabled. All 3 images are identical.

My idea is to do a USB reset, I have been really busy recently and haven't had a chance to test:
