Model A + EW-7811Un frequently disconnects

Wed Oct 23, 2013 6:54 pm

Could anyone point me where to look for clues why is it that my
Model A with EW-7811Un disconnects or looses connection to my AP Technicolor TG582n?

My other devices connected to my home AP do not have the disconnect problems ....

I have tried to restart the AP to see if it re-connects, but that does not work
and the only way is the power off/on the Model A and that is not good for
the file system :(

I can think of soft button that would run sudo poweroff or reboot
but still I rather that the connection stays on ;) and find what's the problem.

I had problems that USB pendrives disconnected after a while on model A. It helped to use a USB hub, even a not-powered one. Never saw this on model B. Have you tried with a hub?

The following has been a solution for some reporting similar issues.

Make file /etc/modprobe.d/8192cu.conf using command

Code: Select all

sudo nano /etc/modprobe.d/8192cu.conf
and insert the two lines into the file

Code: Select all

# Disable power management
options 8192cu rtw_power_mgnt=0 rtw_enusbss=0
The driver for the EW7811Un has some power management enabled and that file disables it.

Reboot after making the file.

Thank you very much, this seems to solve the problem.

However, should I restart my Access Point to which the RPi is connected to
I would have to pull the plug on power as the RPi would not reconnect to AP automatically :(

Here is my setup:
sudo nano /etc/network/interfaces
#################################
auto lo
iface lo inet loopback

#auto wlan0
allow-hotplug wlan0
iface wlan0 inet static
address 192.168.1.2
netmask 255.255.255.0
gateway 192.168.1.1
network 192.168.1.0
broadcast 192.168.1.255
metric 10
wpa-conf /etc/wpa.conf

sudo nano /etc/wpa.conf
#######################
network={
ssid="SKY12345"
proto=RSN
key_mgmt=WPA-PSK
pairwise=CCMP TKIP
group=CCMP TKIP
psk="passphrase"
}

Is there anything to be done, once the RPi becomes disconnected, it will try to re-connect
insted of me pulling the power plug to restart it?

Get rid of network, broadcast and metric from /e*/n*/interfaces (those things aren't needed).

My Edimax reconnects to my AP and my router if I restart either of those boxes.
