for a proper wifi accesspoint

do you need to have a wifi adapter that has an external antenna? or would one of those mini wireless N with no antenna be okay?

It's well described at the Raspberry Pi shops. The small stick (looks like mouse usb sender) is ok, but if you need more distance or your device is not placed optimal you will need this one with the antenna.
