Print Server

Sat Jun 15, 2013 6:35 pm

I have an oldish multi function printer (HP F300 I think it's called). Anyway it is a printer/scanner that requires a USB connection to a device in order to run it. In today's wireless age I'd like to put my Pi to use by running some kind of print server so that I can print from PCs, macs and phones/tablets. Is this possible, and would I be able to retain the scanning functionality in this way?

Got it working as scan server for HP 3030 and HP 3015 at the same time. CUPS works too. HPLIP is was the keyword to solve the issue. Do not know about other models, though.

Print server is easy with Cups or P910nd.

Scan server could be SANEed - this I had running as scan server 10 years ago on an AMD K6 2-400. Should run flawlessly on RPi.
