no the trace should also be 194.168.4.100
you also have the dns servers set to 192.168.4.100 192.168.8.100 when the 192 needs to be 194
because you have set a static ip address the dhcp is desabled

If you're still able to ssh in, the IP routing setting is working fine. IP routing is something only found in XP pro, and we're not using it; we're using ICS.

Have you done that ICF setting thing? The Windows Firewall may be something else, and you want that switched on.

Please ensure the Windows Firewall is switched on, and then go through that procedure I posted earlier. In that order.

Then try the "traceroute 192.168.8.100".

Under Internet Connection Firewall, clear the Protect my computer and network by limiting or preventing access to this computer from the Internet check box.
this doesnt exist, there is a blank box with windows firewall above it and a button with settings on

in here i only have 'windows firewall settings'

That's what he is trying to do.

Try this: http://kb.wisc.edu/page.php?id=2132

If that doesn't work I'll check it on Monday. Unfortunately the only other alternative is using Microsoft's KnowledgeBase article and that is even more flawed as you've already found out.

knowledge base is different to my version of xp!! if i start afresh i think it will all be the same, i got a good record of setting everthing to static, there was an ics issue, maybe its the pi settings?
