Pi 3 - Unable to "Update" on Public AP - Pi security stops it.

Sat Aug 03, 2019 7:11 pm

I am using a campground Public AP and trying to "Update" my Pi, but when I try, I get a not secure site and sends me back to the $Pi prompt. I am unable to download and programs as this error keeps coming up. If I plug in the Pi to my home network the Pi works fine. The desktop will not load either as it gives the same message. There is login security/PW to access the AP. I am dead in the water with my Pi projects for the next 30 days without the Pi being able to download anything. Last year, I was able to download on the same Pi, older software running. All the other toys have no issues with the AP.

Any thoughts
Any work around?

Thanks

Perhaps apt tries to use ipv6? You can force it to use ipv4, there are posts on this in the forum.
Otherwise the AP might be filtering domains...

I am able to connect to the AP/Internet now.

There were 2 issues, 1- under power, I was using a wall outlet with USB included, had to switch to a 2 amp transformer. 2- I had to use a browser (was using SSH) to see that there was a check box that needed to be checked on the login, for the first time accessed with a new piece of equipment. Seems to be working OK now. Was able to get an update successfully.

Thanks again
Don
