A case for Raspberry Pi 3 B & 2.5" HDD

Fri May 24, 2019 5:33 pm

I'm looking looking for a case that will fit both the pi and HDD and will allow access to all the ports. The discontinued cases that WD offered seem to be sold out everywhere. I've found a couple 3D print models that I like on Thingiverse, but when I get quotes on them from 3D printers they all want a small fortune. Does anyone know of any?
Thanks!

No but I am also looking so I'll follow this with a notify

Some folk here have used twin disk enclosures and used one side for the Pi but the cabling and power is a bit of a pain. I binned my old Synology DS411 slim as the board died and then kicked myself for weeks when I thought about it

The flat WD cases where fine with their disks but a nightmare for normal USB adapters and cables (believe me I know) and trying to find a small short right angled USB cable has defeated me - ended up with a knife and pliers in the end...

When the Pi 5 comes out it will have a case that holds a disk as it will have a M.2 drive built in underneath the crystal ball

I use one of these cases, if you can find one, just use a USB to SATA cable that works with it & an SSD. 8-)

Edit: I also found that I could just put the RPi3B, in a standard case, on top of an SSD drive with one of those cables - quite a neat solution. ;)

I've used the one posted by k-pi
its one of my main RPi3B+ desktop
can only accommodate 1 HDD
and (to me) the SATA to USB cable that matched the setup was the inateck UA1003 cable (well...a bit of hacking required though)

below is another suggestion.....another variation of what k-pi mentioned...
its my RPi2B NAS setup

While a HDD doesn't quite fit (1mm too narrow), I find a modified acrylic pen holder would work quite well.

Just be careful to not crack the acrylic while drilling holes, like I did :(
Some super glue fixes it, but it doesn't look great.

I’ve never seen them in stock (or had a notify message)
