WiFi AP Hotspot can not increase max clients

Mon Oct 15, 2018 3:14 pm

Hi there,

I want to create a Wi-Fi hotspot for a lot of clients > 40. The clients are sensors (esp8266 communicate via mqtt) and tablets (communicate via http request).
I installed pup, mysql, mqtt and I followed the tutorial from the official raspberry site to create the access point. So i installed hostapd and dnsmasq.
During my test everything worked fine and after the test I wanted to increase the number of sensors and tablets. And I also edited the dnsmasq.config range to,,,24h
But I don't get access. Sometimes 14 clients sometimes 18 sometimes 12.

I am using the on-board wifichip for the app and an Ethernet cable to connect the rasp to the internet. I don't need a bridge.

Is there any limit in terms of the number of clients. I found some topics but I can't solve my problem.

It would be very very nice if someone could help me

Best wishes

Your range is wrong. You can't assign an address beyond with a /24 netmask. is the broadcast address for you network.
