RPi B+ AccessPoint - No Bridge

Wed Jun 20, 2018 11:27 am

I've been reading a lot of posts recently to try and understand how to setup my RPi B+ as an Access Point.

A lot of them use a bridge to Ethernet. I'm looking for a standalone AP where I can access local services, Samba, HTTP, Plex, etc.

I have it broadcasting the SSID and so far looks like I can connect (with static IP) but unable to ping the Pi or SSH or access any other resources.

I'm doing this all headless, though can SSH when fresh build. Any like or config files I can use for reference?

Here is the doc I use. The first example is a NAT AP. That is what you want. I just set up an AP on a RPi 3B+ and a RPi Zero W (w/usb wifi ). Both work. I highly recommend starting with a fresh install.
