Share Raspberry 3 Bluetooth device

Wed Jul 26, 2017 6:43 pm

Hi everybody,

sorry to ask this question in this forum but google was not my friend (tonight) on this question: Is is possible to use the bluetooth on a pi in the network from a remote virtual machine (windows 2016 on esxi)?
I know (but did not test this yet) that is possible with usbip for usb devices (so maybe possible for usb bluetooth dongle) but I would like to use the native bluetooth device on the pi.

I think I can connect my bluetooth speaker that way with the pi but use it from in my virtual machine.

Mario

PS oh yes, stupid questions deserve a stupid answer :p

G’day Sledgehammer Mario

Check out VirtualHere. https://www.virtualhere.com/usb_server_software It has a free version, and can share USB devices over IP. I feel like with a bit of trickery, it might be possible to share the bluetooth device by tricking VirtualHere into thinking it’s attached via USB, but I have no idea how to do it or where to start.

If you want to share audio, you can do so via pulseaudio streaming. https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Pu ... er_network It’s hard though...
