How-To: RPi as Wireless AP

Thu Dec 15, 2016 4:19 pm

I was bored and wanted to turn my Pi into a wireless access point. Actually, I wanted to make it a portable wireless access point.
I call it "srwap" - Simple Raspberry (Pi) Wireless Access Point

You can see my write up here:

I used Raspbian Jessie Lite, hostapd, netmasq, and Python. Why Python? To power the attached LCD screen of course!

Should I have posted the directions as a message instead of linking?

One opinion - mine - is that linking to a separate resource is sensible because if any subsequent update/enhancement/clarification is required it can be done without having to make retrospective changes to an inherently static forum post.

I have already taken the liberty of referring to your post in this thread: viewtopic.php?f=91&t=168335

PS: a belated welcome to the forums and thank you for sharing your work for others to benefit from

Hi, I just followed your guide and I found it to be more useful than some other I've found. So thanks!

Just thought you should know, that where you ask the reader to alter the dnsmasq config you don't actually give the location of the file, which is tricky for us noobs. I did manage to guess it after a while though.
