USB ADSL modems came to a dead end many years ago.

Yes, I expect it would need a driver and I don't fancy your chances of finding one that works on a RPi.

http://accessrunner.sourceforge.net has not been updated for more than 11 years.

My advice is to forget it and use an alternative method of connecting RPi to ADSL.

If you mean by connecting the phone line to a RPi and implementing an ADSL modem in software on the RPi, then most definitely no.

If your ISP won't give you an ADSL modem-router with ethernet sockets, have a look on ebay.

For a start, the ADSL signals (up and down) are analogue. RPis have no analogue inputs at all and no outputs capable of producing the required waveforms.

If you have a device that will convert ADSL to PPPOE then I believe that pppd can handle that - but ICBW :)
