dwa-160 driver issue when setting up AP

Sat Jul 02, 2016 5:12 pm

When I am running the sudo /usr/sbin/hostapd /etc/hostapd/hostapd.conf , I get a response of
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Configuration file: /etc/hostapd/hostapd.conf
Line 5: invalid/unknown driver 'nl80211'
1 errors found in configuration file '/etc/hostapd/hostapd.conf'
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I am using a d-link DWA-160 dongle , but i can't seem to find the correct drive to put in the hostapd file, does anyone know where or how i could obtain the correct one to fix this error?

Thanks for any help.

You need the free firmware package installed to get the DWA 160 D-Link USB wi-fi dongle to work. Could be the cause of your issue.
