503 is Server unavailable and can have a number of causes. Since you are using lighttpd, open a terminal window on the Pi and do

Code: Select all

tail -f /var/log/lighttpd/error.log
after that, try to access your website and see if there are any errors on the terminal window.[/quote]

OK, that means that you have something that is taking so long that lighttpd thinks it broke, so it tries the old "have you tried switching it off and on again?" ;)

What do you have running on your Pi? can you do a paste of TOP?
Also, do you have the mod_status module loaded so we can see what's happening?

Just so that you can see what is possible, I moved my website from a VPS to a Pi (currently on a 120Mb cable line at my home, ht tp ://p tani me. dyn dns. org <- remove the spaces to get the full url) to test the speed and it's at least 2x faster in most places.
I'm shipping the Pi to a datacenter nest week and hosting the website from there :D

Hi,

Hope someone can help.

I've added the raspcontrol to /var/www & done the following

Code: Select all

cd /var/www/
rm -r raspcontrol
wget https://github.com/Bioshox/Raspcontrol/zipball/master
unzip master
mv Bioshox-Raspcontrol-* raspcontrol
rm master
My problem is that when I go to localaddress/raspcontrol I get the following

Code: Select all

<?php

// This file is for users who don't use the PHP Server

	header('Location: app');
I guess I'm stuck from here. I added a test.php file to /var/www which came back fine???

TIA

What kind of web server do you have installed? Does it support PHP? I had similar message when I was trying to run php web page on different development board with web server which supported only html, php was not installed.

One thing I've noticed is the network option on the page

Code: Select all

 Network
| Received: 0 MB · Sent: 0 MB · Total: 0 MB
Although 'ifconfig' for the ethernet shows

Code: Select all

RX bytes:122136699 (116.4 MiB) TX bytes:121519444 (115.8 MiB)
& all data is external so eth0 is the correct one.

I've added command to the sudoer file as instructed - any ideas?

Cheers

That might be because of some issue with the sudoer. I'm changing that part anyway. Haven't had much free time lately but should be able to commit the code in a couple of days.
My goal is to not need to run anything as sudo (so no need for sudoer and no possible security hole) on the monitoring side.

No worries :) - not a deal breaker - I'll wait for your update.

You can simply do a 'git pull' in the Raspcontrol directory and that will pull down the latest versin.

Then run ./start.sh and you're set!

Raspcontrol has great potential but lacks several things id like to see, as im sure others would too. I see from git hub that several people are working hard to implement thse features and more, but they are not yet included in the main gitrepo.

Is this likely to change soon?
If not, how can i update my raspcontrol installation directly from the active repos????

Thanks.

As far as I'm concerned, I can do a pull request to the main Repo at any time but I think my "vision" of raspcontrol may not be the same as the original author. What I intend to do is to focus more on the monitor and not the control part.

Since the code is public, even if I don't do any pull request, the original author can always change his code with my changes, I just won't get credited in github.

I'm still making changes to the code, one of the major ones is to show all the hardware connected to the USB port with images (if available, we can always add more imges in time), power used, description and a link to the raspberry.org wiki on how to install it.

In theory this means that all you have to do is plug-in something and you instantly get a link on how to install it. Nice, right?

I just haven't had much personal time available lately :(

Replace Bioshox with the user you want, as an example, mine is sjfaustino, MrWaffle's is MrWaffle :)
Just go to Bioshox's on github and see who forked it and what they changed so far.

Running those commands kept moving the whole /sjfaustino-Raspcontrol-76fa0cc folder inside the existing raspcontrol folder. So i deleted the raspcontrol folder but cant rename /var/www/sjfaustino-Raspcontrol-76fa0cc to /var/www/raspcontrol

I really like raspcontrol but I have a couple of questions:
how can I keep update my instance?
how do you retrive the "Warranty" information?
why I have a orange triangle signal close to CPU info?

It's been along time in getting updates, however some lovely people from the community have contributed fiercely to the development of Raspcontrol and I'm happy to announce a better, sexyer version than ever before!
