Destination Folder Access Denied (Samba)

Sat Aug 05, 2017 4:23 pm

I could not add files to my pi (samba) server. Any attempts is followed by a popup saying, "you need permission to perform this action". Below is an excerpt from my config. Help pls.

Code: Select all

[ExternalHD]
comment = External USB Disk
path = /media/ExternalHD
writeable = Yes
only guest = Yes
create mask = 0777
directory mask = 0777
browseable = Yes
public = Yes

I think "path = /media/ExternalHD" is wrong.
try again with "path = /media"

Unlikely, though we can't say for sure without seeing where the op has mounted the drive.

It's more likely to be a permission error on the underlying filesystem.

What format is it using? Fat, NTFS, etx4,... ?
What mount options have been used?
Whats the output of

Code: Select all

mount | grep ExternalHD

It all depends on what is in the rest of the smb.conf, This may be where the problem lies.

Can you post the entire smb.conf (please remove all commented lines)
