You need the new version of Openelec. It's not yet available via Noobs or on the RPF download pages

My theory is that someone got stiffed by buying a fake from China.

They go to Best Buy and buy a full price card, then take the fake back for their money back (this card doesn't work). Best buy now have the fake in an opened package. They stick a "bargain basement, opened package" label on it and sell it to the OP (without testing if for authenticity). The OP now has the fake, Best Buy haven't lost all of their margin and the original buyer who bought the fake from China is guilty of theft.

Rule #1, never buy a second hand or opened package SDCard.

Mine displayed that it first but then I found that after a few seconds it continued normally.

OpenELEC 5.0.1 works fine on my RasPi 2. :)

I have to agree, no matter what, OpenELEC on Pi 2 does not work. Fine on first boot, but then on reboot after setting everything up, it fails and won't load. I've tried the latest build 5.0.3 and still the same (as on 5.0.2) and different SD cards. No idea why this is happening when it runs fine on first boot every time, then fails. The only version of Kodi I can get working on Pi 2 is Xbian. That will do. It works!

My RPi2 works really well with OpenElec 5.0.3. So much so ive retired my WDTV. I've also got my Hauppauge WinTV Nova-T USB tuner working. I use a 2A USB tabet power supply and an old 4 GB SanDisc SD card.

The latest version of OpenElec is 5.0.3. I believe it came out shortly after 5.0.2 to fix a bug in Raspberry Pi. see http://openelec.tv/news

I've tried different power supplies and i use a branded Pi power adaptor anyway. I get the same reboot error with OpenElec no matter what i try. Xbian runs fine so that will do! It does what i need.

Kodi is working for me. What I did was

1. Use the Raspbian image
2. git clone RetroPie-Setup, then run the script
3. install kodi from the script, can't remember under which menu.
4. just type kod-standalone or type emulationstation and select kodi from there.

This is the easiest and best way for me, IMO - you get emulators, kodi, and raspbian desktop (type startx at the terminal) all in one.

If I did the above method and installed kodi on top of raspbian , what would be the best method to boot with no keyboard and have it automatically start kodi?
( or of I do have a keyboard then give me a chance to stop that process by pressing some key )

RPi2 works really well with OpenElec 5.0.3. Burnt Image from Openelec website that is specifically for Pi 2 5.0.3. on to a SD card using Win32DiskImager, it booted right up and after a few minutes it was up and running. Streaming videos from channels and from Plex.

This happens for me :D BUT on shutdown and restart it no longer boots and I have to start from scratch to get it working again  .

Also, I have 2 Rpi2's that came with NOOBS disk from The Pi Hut - neither worked so had to revert to reformat, download, burn etc, so finally up and running.

Back to the reboot - usually a mount_storage type of error....web searches talk of either power, over-clocking or corruption of the sd card on shut-down - anyone solved this :?: HELP :!:

I have been using the 5.0.3 from openelec. Works well. Make sure you download the right one. There are two downloads there, one for the Pi1 and another Pi2.
512MB version 2.0 as WordPress Server
Motorola Lapdock with Pi2B
Modded Rev 1.0 with pin headers at USB

I set mine up as per C-Fu's posting above and all worked well. Today I added kodi-standalone to startup automatically, and I removed the keyboard. For some reason the remote HDMI-CEC doesn't work any more, is that because I unplugged the keyboard ? I'll try in the morning, but if thats the case, whats the workaround ?

I got it working in the end by booting into my Windows 7 Bootcamp and using Win32DiskImager rather then messing about with it on Mac. It works fine now.

For info, I was using the correct image for Rpi2 (OpenELEC-RPi2.arm-5.0.3.img). The non-restart error smacks of a file corruption due to non-flushed buffers/cache, but cannot confirm that.

However, the current version has moved on to 5.0.5 - I've not tried it out, but it is available...on http://openelec.tv/get-openelec

OSMC will not work with my Pi 2 (C). Tried 2 different boards, nothing. Tried 3 different versions of OSMC, nothing. Took known good SD card from Pi 3 (works like a charm) and tried it on Pi 2's, nothing. Disconnected/reconnected, in all possible combinations, ethernet cable, HDMI cable and wireless mouse/keyboard, nothing. Tried 4 different SD cards, nothing. It works great on my Pi 3, not at all on Pi 2. All I get is that rainbow looking screen like you get with no SD card installed.
Tried LibreELEC, not working. Loaded NOOBS, booted up perfectly. From noobs selected Raspbian and OSMC for install, both installed and work just fine.
Why OSMC & LibeELEC won't work on my 2 Pi 2's I don't know, but it does not appear to be the boards.
