Media centre setup with accessible network drive

Fri Jan 09, 2015 2:11 pm

Hi,

I'm new to Raspberry Pi. I would like to run xmbc on a Raspberry Pi with an external hard drive connected that I can access on a network. I would like to have the ability to transfer movies from my computer to the external hard drive wirelessly without unplugging it from the Raspberry Pi, then play them through xbmc. Is this possible?

Cheers

If i want to play a movie to my rpi, should i install the xmbc? I think it is a whole package. Can i install something like a movie player only? Thanks!

You can use for example omxplayer. IIRC it is pre-installed on the Raspbian image.
