Communal Music Player

Tue Dec 16, 2014 9:39 am

Hello -

I'm looking into making a communial music "juke box"

I have our office internal chat box, accepting requests from one of the chat channels, and submitting the data to a web service.

What I want to do is then add this song to a playlist which will automatically update so everyone in the office has the ability of adding songs to the playlist (could be dangerous!)

We were going to use a Raspberry Pi as the music player (we had one in a draw not doing anything!). I considered the likes of XBMC
but ideally, we want to stream YouTube videos, or use Last.FM or similar so we don't have to have a local copy of the files.

Any ideas of software/ systems to put in place on the PI to achieve this?

Regards,

Dave.

Hey there!
You could fork my music player (downloads from youtube via an id, song name, artist etc as mp3 and play them on your raspberry Pi) and add a playlist feature or wait for me to code it (should be done soon)
