Compiled NeoGeo Emulator Download

Sun Jun 24, 2012 9:58 pm

Lo all,

Just posted another howto along with the binaries and config file for gngeo on my blog.

http://blog.sheasilverman.com/?p=73

So far I have run Metal Slug X, King of Fighters 98, and Samurai Showdown 2 perfectly.

SVC Chaos (one of the last games to be made for the system) wouldn't run, but I'm thinking that has to do with how big the cartridge size was at the time. Maybe using a hacked neogeo BIOS like unibios will fix it, but that's something for another day.

Let me know if you have any questions, comments, or suggestions. This is exciting :)

Edit:

Some extra info: http://gngeo.berlios.de/?page=faq - this is the official page for gngeo which has a great FAQ.

Hi, good to see some emulators being developed for the Pi!

I have an issue though,
Whenever I try to boot a rom after following your instructions, the emulator appears to freeze, and doesn't load. Any advice?

Thanks!

What step are you getting too?

What I've done is copy the required files to my Pi, Chmod'd ./gngeo so I can run it, put my BIOS/Roms into the required directories, and copied the config. I then execute ./gngeo for a second time, the GUI shows up, I select my Rom file, the GUI half-closes (as if it's loading) however even after leaving it, nothing happens.

Hey there, I managed to get the emulator to run fine, with audio through HDMI as well. However I tried runinng it with aoss sound, and ever since doing that I can get no audio output from gngeo at all. Do you know how I may be able to fix this?

Thanks!

Sadly I haven't yet, audio works fine in other applications such as omxplayer/FCEU so I guess it's just the emulator, but I've tried redownloading it to a different location and it still does it. Nothing in the config reflects any change either.

Not the audio problem, the one with the GUI half closing.

Ah, I have sorted it now. The config file in .gngeo needs to be called gngeorc, not gngeorc.txt

How is KoF98? Is there any lag?

Now I can't wait to get my RPi and try to get my arcade stick(s) working with it (provided the power needed to run it isn't too high for the pi - I'd look that up but am in work).

You made my day. :D

For those without sound:
run as root.
it gives me sound and a performance boost.

Note: you have to put the config file in the .gngeo folder of the home directory of the root.
