Hi,
Just new to the world of Raspeberry PI and to Squeezeplug also!
I'd just like to know if it's possible to use the Squeezeplug only as a player (using squeezeplay) and have it using another (already established) squeezebox server.

I think it's brilliant having the fuctionality to do both using Squeezeplug, but I already have a squeezebox server up and running.

Can anyone assist me in my enquiry?

Cheers and respect,
Duncan

Hi DunJen

This is precisely what the piCoPlayer is designed to do: http://www.raspberrypi.org/phpBB3/viewt ... 35&t=29539

The sound from the audio jack is working right out of the box. I you have an USB DAC you will need to change the configuration file via putty from another computer - it is described in the thread.

Yes, right! I'll integrate the piCoPlayer will be integrated in one of the next patches of SqueezePlug. Then you can create and customize players with the server, store them on the server and "burn" them directly to SD-Card. If you run into problem with a player e.g. The SD-Card gets corrupted, you can bur the SD again. Because images for players are only about 30 MB!!! This process takes only a few seconds!

Hi Thomas

Good to hear that you will integrate the piCoPlayer with your Squeezplug system.
I have ordered a WiFi card, so hopefully with time we can get it to work via WiFi as well.

Steen: I really like your work on PiCorePlayer or whatever we call it! It's absolutely amazing that a tiny system like that can do the job as a full SqueezeBox player. I think we should work together with integrating it in SqueezePlug. I already have clear ideas about how to do this and it's not a big thing to do. I'll develop it hopefully the next days and would be happy if you could be a tester and we could discuss the implementation.

Have a nice day,
Thomas

Hi Thomas

I would like to continue working with you on this. So where do we continue the discussion?.

I think that maybe we would get more help if we continue at he microcore forum http://forum.tinycorelinux.net/index.ph ... ,56.0.html , because there are the people who really know the microcore infrastructure, and they are very helpful.

What we need for the piCoPlayer is:
1. wifi support

And via putty we should be able to:
2 use a script which will update the squeezelite to the newest version
3 use a script that allows us to easily change the bootlocal.sh file, so that using a USB DAC becomes easier.
4 use a script that allows us to easily set up the wifi

I think these things should be included in the piCoPlayer.img, so that everyone benefit from the enhancement, even those who burn the image outside of SqueezePlug.

Yes, fine, Wifi is the most important task to do. We can meet ant Skype like we did before if you don't mind! I'm still very busy with network related things in SqueezePlug so right now I have no time to other things.

Have you in the project is fun, if you like to get involved more, tell me, there is a lot of work to do!
