I'm totally confused.
Which is the latest working 'official' build image?
I installed the latest image listed for October - it worked, but wouldn't install my edimax wifi.

Re: OpenELEC Testbuilds
Hi,
Is there any place to see a change log for these test biulds?
Is there any other way to debug the CEC than reading the whole system log, i think like connect a terminal to the process?

Re: OpenELEC Testbuilds
UPnP is broken since r12055 or so
Also broken in XBian - so I'm guessing it's an XBMC problem
Damn coders not checking their code - how can you break something that works without knowing it

I now own 2 RPi - does that mean I own a circumference?

sometimes to make something better you must break it first.jaromanda wrote:UPnP is broken since r12055 or so

that makes as much sense as flyscreens on a submarine - UPnP didn't need improving .... now it doesb0x wrote:sometimes to make something better you must break it first.

Re: OpenELEC Testbuilds
Fixed first issue via reading thread. (deleteing guisettings.xml)Wanderlei wrote:Updated to r12066 and everything is zoomed in, lose about 25% of the bottom and side of the screen. Tried tv settings, just scan etc, no change, cannot change options because I cant see them.
Reverting to r12015 its the only build were CEC can resume full functionality after the input is changed it only requires 'simplink' to turned off and on via tv. (LG TV)
But on r12066 CEC fails to work after input is changed on LG tv. Puzzled that it has gone backwards after finally working in 12015.

Chill out ladies.
Sometimes when software isn't tested as thoroughly as it should be, things break - quite common in OSS projects. Sometimes during a large change to a code base, you need to break some code to get something else going.
So it's swings and roundabouts.
Please cease and desist any insults.

Re: OpenELEC Testbuilds
My first post so apologies if this has been asked already - I tried to do a search but couldn't find anything on it.
So, I have set up Openelec and it's up and running with a few glitches but this is the main one I have.
My TV shows are on a share (a popcorn hour internal drive - if that makes any difference) in a folder called TV.
I am accessing this folder through SMB and I've set it up as the TV source and I have started a scan and I'm getting poor results.
Only approx 60% of my folders have been found and of these about 26 episodes have been found .. about 1 or 2 per show (one has 8 episodes found) .. there should be 100's.
So,
I know the parts are ok because some files have been found and scanned
I know naming is ok because the files that have been found are named exactly the same as the ones that havent been found
I think I'm using the most recent build because I downloaded it yesterday
Anyone else had problems like this?

Apologies, but it annoys me when someone thinks software development is easy and resorts to abusing the developers of something they're getting for free.jamesh wrote: Please cease and desist any insults.

what happens when you ASS-U-ME - I've worked in IT for over 20 years, most of that time in ... drum roll ... software development ... and, guess what, I've been responsible for releasing buggy code!!! Re: OpenELEC Testbuilds
Just wondering if the 512mb R-Pi is worth getting for OpenELEC? Will it be supported, compatible, etc?
Re: OpenELEC Testbuilds
Same career track record here, but I'd never resort to abusing developers because a development build broke something. It's the nature of the beast. You questioned the comment "sometimes to make something better you must break it first." - most developers would understand this innately, yet you didn't. Anyway, my last comment on the matter.jaromanda wrote: what happens when you ASS-U-ME - I've worked in IT for over 20 years, most of that time in ... drum roll ... software development ... and, guess what, I've been responsible for releasing buggy code!!! Re: OpenELEC Testbuilds
Compatible yes, supported... I'd guess so, in time. XBMC recently introduced a workaround for 256MB (upscaling the GUI from 720p to 1080p) which is in current OpenELEC builds, but I'm guessing this will no longer be necessary with 512MB onboard.Wanderlei wrote:Just wondering if the 512mb R-Pi is worth getting for OpenELEC? Re: OpenELEC Testbuilds
Would you just have to manually add a new 'start.elf' thats for the 512mb boards?milhouse wrote:Compatible yes, supported... I'd guess so, in time. Re: OpenELEC Testbuilds
For the Pi to see all 512MB RAM, yes.Wanderlei wrote:Would you just have to manually add a new 'start.elf' thats for the 512mb boards?
However there is now a specific workaround in XBMC to ensure stable GUI operation when only 128MB GPU RAM is available - I'm wondering if the GPU can now access more RAM on 512MB devices, in which case this workaround may no longer be necessary.
Re: OpenELEC Testbuilds
I have an LG 37'' TV with CEC hooked up to my Raspberry Pi. Everything works fine, except the four coloured buttons. When I turn on debugging, the other CEC buttons register as key presses, but the coloured buttons don't show up at all. Is there something I can try. I know how to map them if I can get the Pi to recognize them.
Re: OpenELEC Testbuilds
Thats kinda what I am wondering too, if xbmc will take advantage of the extra RAM or it it will only operate with 256mb, whether its a 256mb or 512mb board?milhouse wrote:For the Pi to see all 512MB RAM, yes.Wanderlei wrote:Would you just have to manually add a new 'start.elf' thats for the 512mb boards?

If it does I will get a new board now, if not, I will just wait and see what happens.
Re: OpenELEC Testbuilds
Now the problem is that there is NO OPTION to run xbmc gui at more than 720p!!!Wanderlei wrote:Thats kinda what I am wondering too, if xbmc will take advantage of the extra RAM or it it will only operate with 256mb, whether its a 256mb or 512mb board?milhouse wrote:For the Pi to see all 512MB RAM, yes.Wanderlei wrote:Would you just have to manually add a new 'start.elf' thats for the 512mb boards?

Re: OpenELEC Testbuilds
I'd be surprised if the extra ram sped up XBMC GUI significantly (if at all) ... just sayincaravela wrote:Now the problem is that there is NO OPTION to run xbmc gui at more than 720p!!!
