How do I disable subtitles in movies by default?

Start a movie, go into "Audio - Settings", untick "Enable subtitles", click on "Set as default for all movies".

Pretty daft for this to be enabled by default, but there you go.

How do I get up the menu to go to audio settings? tried holding the pause button but no luck.. have a Toshiba TV

Depends on your remote - it's the OSD function (on screen display) that you want, then select the audio option (the "loudspeaker" icon, 3rd from the right). When playing a movie in full screen, try pressing "Start" (if you have a Start button on your remote), or maybe "Menu".

See this page for screen shots of what you should be seeing. "M" or "Return" on a keyboard may also bring it up.

Maybe a basic question but where to put the confing.txt on the SD-card.

When I acces the SD-card from win Xp and put it there then confing dosent work when starting RPI.
Should I create a "boot" folder on the CARD.

Or can I make it only via the console when accessing via putty.

PS. searching in google didn`t help a lot. Either the soltuion was not clear or didnt work.

Whilst it's possible to create/edit config.txt from a Windows machine either directly or across a network you have to be careful that the file is saved in Unix format otherwise the extraneous characters will prevent it from being parsed properly.

What do you mean it doesn't work ?

yes, you can write it yourself from the console

latest versions of openELEC don't output frequency changes to dmesg you will have to monitor them with the vcgencmd command, the governator is very fast to reset to default so try it a few times

It goes in the root of the SD card, aka the top level directory - the same directory that contains files with names like bootcode.bin, loader.bin, start.elf etc.

And it's called config.txt (no "n") - probably a typo on your part but worth pointing out just in case..

Also try to edit it with notepad++ and not with the windows standard notepad.
Mine doesn't boot either when i use the ""normal" notepad.

Wordpad will respect Unix line termination if the file is already created that way.

I frequently create config.txt files in notepad and it's never been a problem.
I've deliberately created files with dos/unix/mac line endings and all work.

Can you create a file with notepad that doesn't work, zip it up and attach it to your post, and I'll take a look.

I have noticed a big reduction in CPU usage upon upgrading from 12015 to 12026. Yay!

Anyone else seeing this?

My pi idled around 30% on r12015, even after a reboot. Immediately following upgrade to r12026 it consistently idles around 12-17%.

Hi

Got openelec running great but having problems with some xbmc plugins namely itv player,4od and demand 5.

All seem to crash and reboot xbmc as soon as a stream is about to start playing. Has anyone got these working ?

when I installed the repo's to get 4od, demand5 neither seemed to complete install correctly they just hung for 5 - 10 mins and eventually I rebooted the pi.

Iplayer works fine as does youtube

Did you turn off the RSS feed that scrolls across the bottom of the screen? that uses a lot of CPU time.

I've installed OpenELEC on my rpi, but the CPU usage is very high, it is like 78% constant.

did you measure that in top or in the System Info? use top on a static menu, like system. The system info is always refreshing.

I know this is a really quick and easy fix but I am just pulling my hair out trying to make it work. I am using libCEC and need to map a button to open the menu when I select a movie or tv show. The menu I am refering to is the one that has "Queue Item, Play using..., Play from here, etc". I turn on debug and see the button I want to map it to is "red". My question is where in the remote.xml do I make this change? Sorry for the basic question I just can't figure it out!
