Setting up Rpi as a webradio receiver+contro with upnp app

Sat Oct 26, 2013 4:05 pm

Hi
I've followed this tutorial to setup miniDLNA and gmediarenderer.
Everything's working great.
But I'd like to be able to listen to webradio too.
I know it is possible to do all that with xbmc but I've tried it and the rpi being headless, there's no point having all the cpu hogged by xbmc running 24/7 (yes xmbc does take all the cpu even when doing nothing...)

Would there be a way to get shoutcast or any webradio system in my setup ?

thx

If you install LMS (Logitech Media Server aka Squeezebox Server aka SlimServer) plus SqueezeLite (both of which are included in SqueezePlug) you will get easy access to thousands of I termed radio stations via the database that it accesses from RadioTime.

Thanks for you answer, but is it possible to install it ontop of raspbian ?
I've only found squeezeplug images. Not what I'm looking for.
I need to have raspbian running and install everything else on it.
Did anyone manage to install squeezeplug on raspbian ?

OK, if anyone's interested, here's what I found:
http://raspberry-at-home.com/logitech-media-server/
and
http://raspberry-at-home.com/squeezeslave/

and it seems to work OK.
I still have a few issues to work out and there's a little mistake in the squeezeslave tutorial but I have to make a few more tests.

I'm still interested by any inputs you guys could give.
thx

I've written a tutorial on how to install a squeezebox player, Squeezelite, on Raspbian: See: http://www.raspberrypi.org/phpBB3/viewt ... 38&t=25778

For installing the LMS server, see the how-to by allthingspi: http://allthingspi.webspace.virginmedia.com/lms.php

Just another alternative. Gmediarenderer is perfectly capable of playing streaming internet radio stations, if the dlna server can serve them. Not sure if MiniDLNA can do that (a google search doesn't look promising), but I do it successfully with a BubbleUpnp server on Android or a Serviio server on my Windows HTPC.
