Installing OpenELEC

Wed Oct 02, 2013 5:24 am

I have just downloaded OpenELEC from the downloads section of this site. After unpacking it using 7zip, I try to use win32discimager to write the image to an sd card, when I discover.... that there is no image file. How in the world do I get the image onto an sd card? Did I download the wrong type of file? Please help!!!

Note: I am running Windows Vista.

The OP specifically states he's using Vista.

Your link contains the first line:

''Installing OpenELEC on Raspberry Pi
This is for users with a Linux computer.

.....''

If you follow the link provided and scroll down you will see the Windows - SD Cards with issues tab.

I have just recently installed OpenELEC. I was already running Raspbian on the Raspberry Pi so I connected my SD card reader (with another SD card) to my Raspberry Pi and used the Linux instructions (i.e. run the create_sdcard script). This worked well for me.

Why do all that - simply download a pre-compiled image - write to sd card. Start Pi - Use the Openelec setup addon. Done. :D
