No idea in Windows, I'm not a Windows user TBH. I'd just do it with NOOBS.

Just spent the last hour learning how to make a virtual machine of ubuntu on windows then creating an image file inside there, I didn't know anything about the universal installer, oh well, I suppose learning is good. If the NOOBS doesn't work for you I can send you my img file I created if you want.

Glad you got it working. I have to say I am very impressed with Openelec 3.2.0, it is a huge improvement over 3.0.x.

I have created a section of how to install OpenElec from Windows. Follow the http://wiki.openelec.tv/index.php?title ... ith_issues (Windows SD Card with issues, but create cmdline.txt with the Standard Card installation instruction.)

Very easy and quick...

Can you tell how, what makes a difference to you as a user? I am trying to find such info on recent versions of both Openelec and Raspbmc.
The Openelec Settings Addon is way better than before, the interface is much more user friendly and it is easier to configure networks and bluetooth devices, It boots faster than before and the operation of it is much smoother, Also I notice that the System Info screens now work properly, before it reported my Pi as have an 800Mhz CPU speed regardless of load, I guess because I overclocked it to 800Mhz. Now when idle it reports a 700Mhz CPU speed and only reports it going up to 800Mhz when under load, as it should. In version 3.0.x the CPU usage indicator never showed below 90% usage, even though I had modified my Avancedsettings.xml to reduce CPU usage at idle, now it indicates 25% to 30% CPU usage at idle.

They are the improvements over 3.0.x I have noticed, I can't compare it to RaspBMC as I have never used it.

I generally use Raspbmc - overall it's much faster and fluid than either xbian or openelec Also, there is an ongoing series of regular updates

edit: just installed OE 3.2 - very good ... may switch to this from raspbmc!
