Openelec shutdown

Hi all,

I am trying to run my rasp headless - and whilst I can leave it powered I will need to shut it down at some point :P
On ssh in there appears to be no shutdown. halt works but I am a little worried that hasn't flushed caches etc i.e. may corrupt sd card.
I want to 'power off' effectively so pi can safely be unplugged.
Searched the forum's can't see anything (why is shutdown not in openelec?).

thanks in advance

poweroff

From this page. http://wiki.openelec.tv/index.php?title=Ssh_commands

Tested it on my OpenELEC Pi and it works fine.

Hi,

Fantastic!. I googled openelec looking for shutdown, power off, halt etc. etc. etc.
Of course I need a 'clean' non potentially sd card corrupting method.

So to confirm what is the exact method to turn off my pi running openelec?
i.e. a shutdown method for xbmc/openelec so I can remove power from the pi.

thanks again much appreciated!

Cheers

This is what I did to test. On my desk I have my main computer which is running Windows 7 and Putty. Next to it I have my OpenELEC Pi with a monitor attached.

01) Open Putty
02) Log in to the Pi
03) Type in poweroff
04) Hit enter
05) Look at monitor attached to Pi
06) Watch it shut down as if I clicked shutdown in OpenELEC

If you are ever in my area I will expect you to purchase me a beer.

What OS are you running on your Pi? I am running OpenELEC which from the title of this thread I believed you were also. If you are running OpenELEC are you trying to enter 'power off' or 'poweroff' as the command?

Hi,

Yeah openelec.
Funnily enough if I log in as openelec user and even doing 'sudo poweroff' it says not permitted. But if I login as root it's ok.
Does this flush cache's etc? i.e. SD card safe???

thanks

I was logged in as root when I tested as I have been too lazy to create a second user on this Pi.

From what I can tell it is doing a proper, normal shutdown as if you had clicked shutdown on the main screen of OpenELEC.
