USB DVB-S2 Card

Sun Dec 23, 2012 9:22 pm

Hi,

this is my first post,

I'm currently working on making my RPi to be a DVB-S2 Media Center.

My configuration :
RPI with latest RaspBMC (nightly with PVR)
USB TechnoTrend S2-3600 Card connected to active USB Hub
The Card has also external Power for LNB too.

I managed to get tvheadend configurate and backend work:
- Scan is OK
- Signal is OK

If i start playing TV Stream inside XBMC (Frontend) i have some faults:

- TV Streams has a lot of artefacts & most of time there is no sound at all.

What i will test next days would be the integration of MPEG2 Lizenz, maybe SD Quality Channels could work.

What i also test is overclocking the RPI with Foce Turbo Mode 1 and also manually with some different configs.

But the same problem results !

Have you looked for USB errors while running a stream? dmesg (or tail -f /var/log/messages while running) should show something

Try recording a 30 second stream and check to see if the video/audio is intact using another PC... If not, then dive in to the USB aspects to see if all the data is sane.

I have verified using a WinTV Nova DVB-T stick and mumudvb(in the repo) and I am able to stream all the channels on a transponder without problems.

[Addendum]
start with normal DVB-S channels.. DVB-S2 channels are very high bandwidth and do not work too well over Wifi.

Seems to be some Driver Issue but at BootUp the Raspberry know the USB Sat Device with Name.

I've got the same DVB-S2 adapter, SD channels work but HD channels are stuttering - even if I decode them on a different machine.

The I2C error is a known problem of the driver, which also occurs on non-Raspberry machines: http://www.linuxtv.org/pipermail/linux- ... 32911.html
