Hi, I'm a noobie, and it will sound like it. I'm using Openelec for stream TV. Is Overclocking better than finding an SD card with a faster RAM speed? Otherwise, how do you know when you have gone too far with overclocking?

Why? There a list of various valid OC settings above - do we need any more? You can keep trying settings, best I've heard of is 1.2Ghz, you won't break it, but not everyone will get that far.
Yeah that seems about the limit for me. I occasionally have issues but not often enough to majorly annoy me. This is what I have:

arm_freq=1200
force_turbo=1
core_freq=500
sdram_freq=600
over_voltage=10

I've managed to push the core up to 550 but things start to get a little strange at that point. Do remember that each RPi is slightly different. Also having too much hooked up to the USB ports can cause a pretty major power drain so do be sure to have a powered USB hub and a power adapter rated 2 amps or above. I'm using these products:

I use 800mhz over the standards 700.. The change helped a lot, very snappy. Don't forget with over volt, it will shorten the life of your Pi, so I use the second one :)
