Terminal shown when playing video in XBMC

Sat Dec 01, 2012 8:27 pm

I tried searching and could not find a solution online:

Right now I have my Pi running composite video (4:3) with XBMC. When playing a video that is not "zoomed" in, the terminal window is showing in the background behind the video. Is there a way to hide the terminal by either displaying a black background while XBMC is running or hiding the terminal altogether?

Is this normal and working as intended?

Thanks in advance!

I've had this problem too. The only workaround I've been able to find for it was to do the following post login:

~$ clear
~$ sudo /usr/lib/xbmc/xbmc.bin

Basically, clear the screen so there's only one line showing when you play your movie. If someone's figured out the real fix please post it here !

That works pretty well... except the cursor is still there blinking!

I saw this solution, I'd hate to resort to this though: http://raspberrypi.stackexchange.com/qu ... ying-video

I could always have a script to execute that on start-up and shut-down of XBMC I guess.

On a slighty different matter. Is it possible to dynamically split the memory 128/128 on entry to xbmc and revert back to 64/192 on exit of xbmc to Debian?. Going in to xbmc should be no problem. A script to run an elf file should suffice. But I can see no way to change back on exit.

Try:

Code: Select all

sudo setterm -clear >/dev/tty0 && xbmc-standalone

Return to “Media centres”
