Pi Zero Audio Out Circuit For Small "coin" Speakers

Hello, I am working on a handheld Kodi/game console using the pi zero and would like the option to play audio through some (super)small speakersin addition to breaking out an audio jack as described in this tutorial by Adafruit: https://learn.adafruit.com/adding-basic ... -pwm-audio

I am aware there are several little class D amps and audio hats available, but was curious if it would be feasible to augment the simple circuit described in Lady Ada's tutorial with one or two transistors and some extra power to provide just enough "oomph" for tiny little coin speakers. I have lots of "jelly bean" parts laying around... Not sure if there would be a problem with power limitations as I am using USB powered screen that draws ~600mA, so even a mono solution would be A-OK.

Pi-Zero-W/ , but it is pointed out that it may not provide very good fidelity, and looks like it is basically a class A amplifier, so perhaps a class AB would be better? I also have some LM386 amp chips, but again I am not sure if the Pi would be capable of powering it along with the USB powered screen I am using. I am using a 5v 2.5 amp power supply....

Any thoughts or input would be greatly appreciated(I know there are lot's of solutions I could purchase, but I am still curious if it can be done) and feel free to call me crazy...
