Networking OSMC on a Rpi 3B+

Mon Apr 22, 2019 3:10 pm

I just got OSCM running on a RaspberryPi 3B+ outfitted with a USB hard drive. I would like to network it with my old Windows XP desktop PC. (I'm already able to SSH it with Putty over WiFi.) I know very little about networking. I would like to be able to read and write files on the Pi's USB drive from my XP PC. How do I set this up? Does it require the addition of a "Server"?

The simplest way to share the data is to load SAMBA onto the Pi and a rough / get-you-going guide is https://www.raspberrypi.org/documentati ... s/samba.md

You may need help setting the shares and security up but folk here have plenty of advice for this.
