RasPyPlayer - a lightweight media center

Sun Oct 14, 2012 1:59 pm

Hi,

I'm designing a small and fast media center for the Pi. I'm writing it in Python3 and Tkinter. It uses omxplayer as backend for playing files.

It is currently a prototype but it works (scanning library, searchs and playing files). Please feel free to try it and report me bugs, suggestions, patches, etc!

Sources and bug tracker are on github : https://github.com/jpec/RasPyPlayer

Hi,

First thanks for the player, it works well.
Just one question: how do you add specific options to the player like -t on --align center --no-ghost-box to see the subtitles centered and without the grey box?

Thanks

PS: sorry I know I am late, I hope you will see this post

Hi,
Thanks, this is the missing feature, for me. Let us add any option we want please, not only the one concerning the subtitles. ;)
And would it be possible to use the player without database, just to read a video ?

I'll add an entry in the config window to permit adding any omxplayer option.

It's not the objective. But easy to realize. :ugeek:

Perfect. :)

Yeah I know, and it is not the most important change, don't worry.
But it is just that all of my videos are on my USB key mounted in /media/key/ and there are several folders. I indicate to RaspyPlayer that my video files are in /media/key but he doesn't see all the files in the different folders, just the files that are in the same folder as the file I am reading.
Is it normal ?

And last question : is the video type filter used?

Thanks for the answers! ;)

No. It should scan all directories except these in the exclude folders list.

Here are some suggestions. Should be able to play DVDs from an external DVD drive and from flash media.

Yes. Replace one URL by the path of the DVD mount point.

Bonjour,

J'essaie d'installer Raspyplayer, mais au lancement de l'applicatrion, j'ai un message d'erreur:

Que dois-je faire pour que cela fonctionne?

Merci

Seems to be reinventing the XBMC wheel. What do you see as the advantages over XBMC?

Not at all. XBMC is a full mediacenter and it even do the coffee.

RasPyPlayer is *very* light and simple. It's only able to play movies or tv stream.

Thanks for this.

Is it possible to switch audio tracks while playing? Or to tell the player to open the video file (mkv) with non-default audio selected? I'm using the player app not the mc.

Thanks again and merry christmas!
