Thomas - been meaning to mention this for a while, but the OMXPlayer bit of your setup script doesn't work unless you have enough memory allocated to the GPU. OMXplayer won't run

As your default setting is for the minimum GPU, it doesn't work - probably worth putting some help text in there somewhere (or in the wiki when it's done).

Very odd.

You can run multiple instances of SqueezeSlave on one RPi each on different sound cards and multiple RPi's on one network!
yes I would use one RPi with 4 usb sound cards to play in 4 rooms with different sounds
(lounge, kitchen, bathroom, bedroom)

I would use this sound card, I have confirmation over it works with the RPi

at the beginning of my project I wanted to buy 4 RPi to manage 4 rooms but if you can do it with one's been saving me

How do I install and configure several squeezeslave used for a specific usb sound card? because since the "setup" it says squeezeslave is already installed.

Thank's ;)

The syntax should be something like this:

/usr/bin/squeezeslave -o 0 -m 00:00:00:00:00:01 192.168.1.100 &
/usr/bin/squeezeslave -o 1 -m 00:00:00:00:00:02 192.168.1.100 &
/usr/bin/squeezeslave -o 2 -m 00:00:00:00:00:03 192.168.1.100 &
/usr/bin/squeezeslave -o 3 -m 00:00:00:00:00:04 192.168.1.100 &

Change 192.168.2.100 for the IP-address of your LMS! Values behind -o are the numbers of the different sound cards. You will get them from alsamixer. Hope that helps, I haven't checked it!

I would be very grateful for a link to the version 4 download.

I have installed v5 (and updated to 504), everything seems to be right in that I can access via Putty and it appears in my DHCP table. But I am not able to access via a browser on 9000.

My plan is to get another SD card, set that up with v4, which worked perfectly, so that I can do some calm, unpressured, troubleshooting with v5

My own v4 image was lost due to a recent PC failure, and I stupidly, didn't back up my SD card before updating it to v5.

Many thanks for your work with this so far.

Hi
I am experiencing an issue with playback of files (flac and mp3).
Everthing seems to run fie for the first 10 or so tracks then a track will play to about 2/3 of the way through, then stop and restart at the beginning again, soemtimes it does this over and over on te same track sometimes it finishes the track and goes to the next one.

I have updated squeezeplug to 5.04
running squeeze slave on the same R-PI as the server
Using a 2GB micro SD card (in an SDcard holder - not sure what class it is but wandering if they be part of the problem)
Music is on a 32GB USB stick connected via a powered USB hub mounted as /mnt/external/music
PI is powered from the HUB too
TOP shows no obvious loading issues

The tracks all play fine on my laptop using Banshee and Mplayer.

Any ideas?

But maybe my raspberry cound't handle it

Update to 5.05 available

A new update is available. This is an very important patch you should defiantly run.

This patch fixes an mayor bug in the LMS install script and a bug in the last update script.

You can easily update your RPi by:
"setup" <Advanced_Configuration> <Update_SP>

Newer patches already contains older ones! This means that the 5.05 Patch already includes the 5.01, 5.02, 5.03 and 5.04 patch, so you have to run the update routine only once!

I like to make SqueezePlug better and better.

Patch History:
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
500
initial version
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
501
expand_rootfs_2.disabled: Hint included for the process is taking some time
lib.sh: Changed some text to make it more clear
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
502
smb.default: Changed because of a wrong mount point for the media library
rpi_fw_update.sh: Changed some text for warnings
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
503
System updated to the new stable version of raspbian including firmware support for the new 512 RAM boards
rpi_memory_split.sh: Changed because of the new memory-split mechanism
squeezeslave.armhf: SqueezeSlave new version squeezeslave-1.2-381-armhf-lnx32
update WiFi and other drivers for Debian HF (Raspbian)
update crashplan to fix a bug
install a new HQ LMS-Player, SqueezeLite
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
504
provide a new version of SqueezeLite and an init-script for SqueezeLite
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
505
patch the LMS install script fixing a problem with updated packages
provide a new version of SqueezeLite
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Mabye you have seen my last post announcing patch level 5.05. This is a very important patch I like to explain a bit deeper! Today I saw that in some circumstances the installation of Logitech Media Server fails. This depends on the update status of your Debian packages which is different from time to time. Some of you failed with the LMS installation, that maybe the reason! So I changed the LMS install script, to make sure the Debian packages are up to date before the installation of LMS.

I hope that will fix the issues around LMS.

So if your LMS installation does not work, update SqueezePlug, un-install LMS and reinstall LMS, I hope this will work!

Have fun,
Thomas

Hi,

I am very new to RPi and Squeezeplug. I have installed the newest patch.
After that patch the LOgitech Mediaserver runs without errors. But when I run the setup program and want to change the memory split or manag the library the setup program exits with an error:

/sp/scripts/rpi_memory_split.sh: No such file or directory
or
/sp/scripts/lib.sh: No such file or directory

Did I miss something?

I hope you used quality cables and kept them well away from mains wiring. Analogue baseband audio over unbalanced cables of that kind of length can be subject to hum/noise/interference pickup and earth loops. :( I'm not saying you will definitely have problems.

Hello everybody,

I've got a problem similar to .helge's some posts ago, my LMS is not starting properly.

server.log

Code: Select all

   2012-11-15 05:08:30 squeezeboxserver_safe started.
2012-11-15 05:08:44 Logitech Media Server died. Restarting.
2012-11-15 05:08:49 Logitech Media Server died. Restarting.
2012-11-15 05:08:54 Logitech Media Server died. Restarting.
The difference is, I've never used another SSH client but putty. Neither SYSLOG nor MESSAGES are having log entries regarding this issue.

As the Server didn't start out of the box, i patched to 5.05, with no benefit. So I took another SD (working squeezeplug beta 4.08) from another Pi(2), and it works like a charm in Pi(1). I don't assume that there is any kind of network issue. I've tried several times to reinstall LMS as well as the squeezplug image itself, same result.

Has anyone faced a problem like that,
any ideas or suggestions?

thanks,

Hanzo

@Hanzo:
Yes, I had the same problem.
The solution that worked for me was to deinstall the Logitech Media Server, update squeezeplug via setup -> Advanced..., reboot RPi and reinstall LMS. After that the LMS worked fine.

Hi Kai,

thanks for your response. As I'm already on 5.05 squeezeplug tells me that 'there is no need to update', and in this case, I'm able to relate to this ;).

Unfortunately this thing is still not working.... :?

Hi Hanzo,

ok, then just deinstall LMS and reinstall it. During LMS installation the setup routine checks some OS packages if they are up to date respectively if they are installed.
If this won't work I have no further ideas.

Hi Kai,
please try this:
1.

Code: Select all

nano /sp/scripts/sp.ini /
2. change "UPDATE_CURRENT 505" to "UPDATE_CURRENT 504"
3.

Code: Select all

setup
<Advanced_Configuration> <Update_SP>
4. uninstall LMS
5. install LMS
6. Check whether the memory split script works for you

Please report back the result here. I think there went something wrong with the 5.05 path!

Good Luck,

I tested with 4 soundcards. One internal, one directly connected to the RPi, 2 connected with a usb-hub. One and two run fine, the usb-hub connected played awful sound! I have not investigated any deeper, cause I think this setup is a kind of strange!

Hi Kai,

I now set up squeezeplug from scratch, once again. First thing I did, after selecting RPi from the starting dialog, was sp_update. After a reboot and LMS installation everything works perfect.

Thanks for your help :)
