Skype + Raspberry pi

Tue Oct 17, 2017 9:15 am

I want to connect a webcam to raspberry and using skype on it.
Since there isn't skype for smart TV nowaday, i want to use skype on my tv with raspberry.
Is there a possibility?
I would to use it with a remote control.

Skype or other apps or other OS.-..

The de-facto Raspbian Stretch Operating System includes Chromium Web Browser, so Skype for Web may be worth trying ??

yes it's an idea, but it's so inconvenient because i want to use on the tv. SO, using the remote controller with Cromium it's a long shot.

If you are connecting to your TV via HDMi then maybe ??

yes, i only need to find a version of skype "simple"(interactively) to use. Because this operation , while i'm using the mouse pointer, is a bit cumbersome. I need to simplify as much as possible.

Have you found a suitable sollution. We want the same and we tried already some stuff
Attach a webcam to the raspberry and use motion to stream it and use that webcam on a computer. but that was to slow.
web.skype is also very slow so also no option.

Unfortunatly this doesn't work as expected. And we would realy like to just use the webcam on another computer then the attached raspberry. This is a meeting room where lots of people will go in and letting them log in and out is doomed to go wrong.

No recommendations, I only know what I read in these pages,, but this looks interesting as a Skype alternative:

http://www.instructables.com/id/Video-C ... erry-Pi-3/

https://www.linux-projects.org/uv4l/tut ... itsi-meet/

It seems not to need binaries and is open source.

this seems good as an alternative. Unfortunatly that is no option for us at the moment but i will keep this in mind because it looks nice.
